This tool is designed to be a feedback and self-reflection tool, not an evaluation tool. The goal is to incorporate the appropriate best practices rather than all the practices. Teachers should select instructional practices that create an ambitious, student-centered, and creative mathematics classroom culture.

Learning Lab Model

The Learning Lab Model is a modified version of the Japanese Lesson Study where teachers collaborate to plan, deliver, debrief and reflect on a lesson taught by either the facilitator or one of the teachers in the cadre. My published article for the Indiana Association of School Principals Indianagram Journal outlines the model and protocol.

Reveal Scope and Sequence for Future-Focused Indiana Math Standards aligned to the ILEARN Checkpoints

Reveal Mathematics Preview

One of the most adopted  6-12 math programs is Reveal Mathematics by McGraw Hill. In an effort to support the work of high school and middle school teachers, I have developed comprehensive scope and sequence documents that align the new 2023 Indiana Mathematics Standards to the Reveal program for Algebra 1 & 2 and Geometry.

Additionally, you can download the Reveal scope and sequence aligned to the 2020 Indiana Mathematics Standards for middle school math courses. In each of these two sets of documents, you will find detailed guidelines for how to teach using Reveal to best meet the intentions of the standards.

Additionally, I have created a suggested Pacing Guide for grades 6-12. I encourage you to share this resource with other educators who may benefit from this information.  These curriculum maps provide additional notes, Mathematics Framework guidance, and additional resources/tasks where Reveal Math has gaps and doesn’t meet all of the new Indiana Math Standards. These curriculum maps are aligned to the ILEARN Checkpoints.

Chart of 2023 ELA Standards

The 2023 Indiana ELA Standards for grades K-2 have created a better alignment to the Science of Reading research and best practices the Indiana legislators were aiming for in their recent focus on literacy. There has been a considerable shift in reading foundational skills such as phonics and phonemic awareness to support decoding words in Kindergarten while building to reading sentences in 1st grade and building reading fluency in 2nd grade. Download my free ELA K-2 Summary to ensure you are hitting the new 2023 target for literacy.
